KS-12 and Komrad Performance Tune

Kalashnikov USA KS-12 and KS-12 Komrad shotguns are the domestic cousins of the Saiga 12. They leave the factory looking closer to a finished tactical gun than an imported sporter. That does not mean a bone-stock KS-12 is a high-performance shotgun. Owners still send them to Lone Star Arms when they want the gun taken down to the barrel and receiver and rebuilt as a tuned system — OEM parts and 922r components refined, honed, fitted, tuned, and balanced to cycle a wide range of commercial 2¾" and 3" 12-gauge ammunition.

Rebuilds start at $1,200 for both the KS-12 and the Komrad. That is the comprehensive high-performance job. Optional features and equipment typically take a custom KS-12 or Komrad into the $1,200–$2,500 range. Return shipping is a flat $50 USPS Priority Mail Adult Signature Service.

Lone Star Arms works on the standard KS-12 and the KS-12 Komrad. If you are looking at this page because another shop only wants imported Saigas, you are in the right place. The process is the same specialist workflow used on Saiga 12 and Vepr 12 guns. Tell the shop which KUSA variant you have, what is on it now, and what it refuses to cycle.

What a tune changes

A KS-12 tune is not a trigger swap advertised as a rebuild. The shotgun is disassembled to the barrel and receiver. The moving parts, gas system, and the parts that have to live with whatever 922r-compliant components the configuration requires are fitted and balanced together. 922r is discussed in general terms only and only when it applies; this page is not a parts recipe.

The shop’s own Videos page describes a Lone Star Arms KS-12 high-performance rebuild performance-tuned for very low recoil operation, with a stated semi-auto cyclic rate of 360 to 400+ rounds per minute. Treat that as the shop’s published demonstration of a finished tune — not a guarantee that every KS-12 will match a filmed rate of fire. What the shop will stand behind is the same ammo claim used on every platform page: a wide range of commercial 2¾" and 3" loads, including shells other KS-12 builds often will not run.

The recent-builds gallery includes Komrad customs and KS-12 quad-rail and Signcutter builds, including a low-recoil KS-12 built for a customer who needed the gun to run from low-recoil buckshot to heavy loads. On-site testimonials are heavier on Saiga 12 letters because that is the longer customer record, but the process, price, and ammo standard are the same for KUSA guns.
