The Vepr 12 is a different starting point than a Saiga 12. Molot built it as a more robust Kalashnikov-pattern shotgun, and many owners assume that means it does not need serious gunsmithing. In practice, a Vepr 12 still has to be fitted as a system if you want it to run mixed commercial 2¾" and 3" 12-gauge ammunition without drama. Lone Star Arms takes the shotgun down to the barrel and receiver and rebuilds it: OEM parts and 922r components are refined, honed, fitted, tuned, and balanced together.

Rebuilds start at $1,200. That figure is the comprehensive high-performance job — the same class of work the shop does on Saiga 12 and KS-12 guns. Optional features and equipment push a custom Vepr 12 into the typical $1,200–$2,500 range. Return shipping is a flat $50 USPS Priority Mail Adult Signature Service.

Why Vepr 12 owners ship the gun

Some Vepr 12s arrive because they will not cycle the cheap birdshot used for practice. Some arrive because an earlier “custom” left the gun looking finished and running like a project. Some arrive because the owner wants a low-recoil, high-control 12-gauge for training or duty-style use and does not want to spend a year swapping parts. Lone Star Arms is a specialist shop. This is the work they do.

On-site videos include a Lone Star Arms Vepr 12 cycling #6 birdshot, shot after shot, magazine after magazine. Gallery builds include low-recoil Vepr 12s and quad-rail customs built for named clients. Those photographs are finished customer guns, not catalog fiction.

What the build actually is

A Vepr 12 high-performance build is not a sticker and a new handguard. The shotgun is disassembled to the barrel and receiver. Contact surfaces, the gas system, the moving parts, and the parts that have to live with 922r-compliant components are addressed as one job. 922r is handled in general terms only: if the configuration requires U.S.-made parts under the imported-shotgun rules, those parts are fitted and tuned with the rest of the gun. This page does not publish a 922r recipe.

The performance claim is the same one used across Lone Star Arms platforms: builds are set up to cycle a wide range of commercial 2¾" and 3" 12-gauge ammo, including loads other Vepr 12, Saiga 12, and KS-12 builds often will not. That is the product. Furniture, sights, muzzle devices, and recoil-reduction options are extras you choose after the shop knows how you shoot.

Custom range and options

Typically, a high-performance build with customization ranges from around $1,200 to $2,500, depending on the optional features and equipment desired. If you already own magazines, a specific stock, or a sight you want reused, say so in the quote request. Michael will tell you what will work on a Vepr 12 and what is wasted money. How to start

Call or text (505) 263-8822 or email lonestararms@yahoo.com. Identify the gun as a Vepr 12, describe the current configuration and the problem, say how you use it, and name your state. Do not ship until you have intake instructions. Full process and restricted-state rules live on Services. Finished examples are in the Vepr 12 gallery and recent builds.
